Radio Fallout: Mondegreen EP

Radio Fallout managed to achieve quite a feat considering they've only been in the industry more or less 5 years. In just two years since they formed in 2008, the group already managed to snag slots, performing in various prominent stages in and around Austin, Texas. The following months saw the trio of, Jonathan Palmer, Dan Walker and Caleb Scates, pursue their careers vigorously. By 2009, they recorded Mondegreen EP, which was self-produced by the boys along with Tim 'Tank' Casterline.

Danny Sherwood: When My Ship Comes

With his melodic baritone voice and sweet piano playing, Danny Sherwood echoes the sultry and often somber mood of Morissey. Even the EP title sounds off a bit of melancholia from The Smiths. When My Ship Comes In is a lot like an afternoon lull after the heavy rain has passed. The short album only contains 5-tracks but the depth is beautiful and often mesmerizing. Already a songwriter at a young age, Sherwood shares intimate moments of self-reflection through his carefully written lyrics and catchy melodies.

The Wall & The Window: The Years EP

Like a soft whisper, The Wall & The Window have mastered the beauty of singing quiet and hushed up lullabies. According to the band, The Years EP takes you back to a time when a recording was meant as "an actual record of a moment in time, like a photograph in motion, framed for an instant within the borders of the picture." Fully done on a 4-track cassette, it has that lofi, yet polished and spontaneous feel. Behind this great folk EP are songwriters, Adam Mormolstein and Kristen Hotschlag.

Hey, Sleeper: We Fell Asleep in Winter and Woke Up in June

We Fell Asleep in Winter and Woke Up in June might be a mouthful for an album title but it nevertheless, easily depicts the mood set out by this mini compilation. Created by singer/songwriter Luke Roberts or better known as Hey, Sleeper; the short record features acoustic tracks done by the artist. Filled with simple and heartwarming melodies, these are the kind of songs you'll want with you on a quiet afternoon. The mini EP was released on BandCamp last June 2012 and currently offered as a free download.

Jeremy Clay Price: Acquired Taste EP

His first foray into recording and releasing an EP, Jeremy Clay Price's Acquired Taste EP is a collection of mellow tracks written over a span of 8 years. The album is a gorgeous collection of melodic pop rock cuts that represent a personal journey for the singer. Singing about his Christian faith and reflections on life, most of the cuts are quite expressive. It was recorded with a long time producer friend Toby Baxley and comes with 5 simple but heartwarming songs worth noting.

Tyrants: GhostMouth EP

There are times when you simply want to take out your music player and listen to the loudest record you have on there. GhostMouth EP from Tyrants would make good company for these kinds of afternoon. The London, hardcore four-piece released this mini compilation back in 2011. It served as a follow-up to their self-titled debut released earlier that same year. GhostMouth EP showcases some raw and energy-driven orgy of guitars, drums and shouting vocals that the band has pretty much gotten down to a tee.

The Black Atlantic: Darkling, I Listen

The Black Atlantic is no stranger to the pages of the Frostclick blog, their previous record, Reverence for Fallen Trees, was featured here before. Despite their rather melodic folk sound, they list metal bands like Slayer and Metallica as among their influences on their Facebook page. Whether it's a tongue-in-cheek name drop or not, if you listened to Darkling, I Listen; it's hard to find these influences. They don't seem to need it though since the group is fully capable of mesmerizing their audience with their subdued indie folk ensembles.

Death In Texas: We Will Implode EP

Exploding into the scene with a heavy power pop, progressive sound is sometimes enough to get you noticed. Indeed, Death in Texas offers that "look and listen to me" vibe from the very moment that you start up their first song. We Will Implode EP is their first mini compilation. It contains 4 tracks that work great as a sneak preview into their energetic rock/theatre-like sound. The record was released last July 16, 2011 and is the perfect piece to kickstart a good, happy day.

Deadwall: Four Songs

Despite having formed just a year ago, Deadwall is already winning great feedback for their sound. They're a UK, Leeds band that formed in early 2011. Their sound is familiar yet distinctive in their own right. The five-piece crew is made up of Thomas Gourley - vocals & guitars, Christopher Duffin - keyboards, Rob Simpson - guitars, Tom McCartney - bass & Guy Raimes - drums & percussion. After generating a string of successful shows, the boys managed to snag a sold out gig at the famed Leeds' 360 Club.
