VEVO is a premium music service with over 7500 artists and a large library of videos, exclusive clips, top charts, top playlists and the work. There is also an original music programming feature within the app.
VEVO is a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Abu Dhabi Media, while record label EMI licenses its content to VEVO without charging any ownership royalty fees. The videos of VEVO are channeled through the internet and the total advertising revenue is shared between Google and VEVO.
The VEVO mobile app is available on iOS and Android complete with a very slick user-interface and loads of features. VEVO punches in with a lot of features such as live streaming events, premiers, and a catalouge of over 45,000 videos at the moment. There is also Music Maps with a very interactive feel to it – users can enjoy the videos being watched within the neighborhood and around the world.
Social connectivity is very well integrated; you can now easily share videos through Facebook, Twitter and Email. Also, after the video, iOS users have the option to purchase the song from the iTunes Store, while Android users can purchase music from Amazon. Additional to watching VEVO channel videos, the app provides users with their favorite artists up to date concert dates, purchase of tickets to local shows, and current tours, with additional option for up-to-the-minute Twitter feeds from favorite artist.
The VEVO app allows user to view the entire history of all previously watched videos. The users can mark their calendar for notifications about video premiers, events and original music programming schedule.
The application is very slick, neat, and boasts of much better features than the normal webpage version. VEVO videos are available in high-quality and in Full HD 1080p, though the videos buffer in 3G, developers of the app suggest to use Wi-Fi networks for best quality viewing.
Note: Not all of the videos are available in all regions.
