Sematary Records is serious about bringing back good old punk rock. Following their successful compilation, Punk’s Undead Volume 1, this second album is their latest tribute to the raucous and defining genre.

Composed of “25 instant classics from the Midwest;” the album compiles tunes from various punk rock bands both old and new.

You’ll find a handful of loud and energetic songs on here that’ll keep you awake all through the night.

Starting out strong with The Aquaholics’ Dragula, the song serves as a short introduction to the complex record. It’s instrumental but still manages to capture the punk rock essence. Following closely is the metal mayhem anthem by In Defence, aptly titled Lessons in Headbanging.

On the other hand, the album is littered with other great contributions like the one from geeky-sounding punk band, The Old Comiskeys. Their track Polish Princess sounds like a mix of Gogol Bordello and Blink 182 that’s coupled with incessantly fast drumming. Another pop punk track with a nice hook is Janie from About the Mess.

Several other bands featured include the Ramone’s sounding, Kobanes; Cave Bear; The Lurking Corpses; The B-Movie Monsters, among so many others.

If you’re looking for an upbeat, rockin’ afternoon, you’ll find this one as good company. Check out the tracks and see which ones are your favorites.
